I am an amateur naturalist and wildlife photographer living in north-east Hampshire.
It was watching the TV programme "Animal Magic" presented by Johnny Morris that planted the seed for my lifelong interest in wildlife. With my school friends I started visiting local wildlife sites including Titchfield Haven, situated on the South coast . At this time, the reserve was privately owned and at weekends a local expert would lead walks up the eastern side of the current reserve. These walks, together with the encouragement and help I received from other local birdwatchers, has fostered friendships and an interest which has lasted over 40 years. When "The Haven" opened as a reserve in 1976 I became a volunteer, and for 20 years, regularly guided visitors around the hides. I am still a frequent visitor to this superb reserve.
As well as watching and photographing wildlife close to my home and around Hampshire, I like to visit other UK sites with North Norfolk and the Isles of Scilly being particular favourites. I occasionally manage to get further afield and recent overseas trips have included Colorado, Finland, Sweden, Hungary, Lesvos, Kenya, the Falklands and Panama.
I hope that you enjoy the photographs displayed and would encourage you to go out and see some wildlife for yourselves.
